Bye Bye Computer!

My OH has been so sweet lately. He knows how stressed out and busy I have been and he took it upon himself to give our neighbor J a call to see if he could come over and take a look at my computer. You see, neighbor J is the one who gave me the computer a couple years ago and he basically built it. Plus he is the go to computer geek for any computer related problems.

THE BAD NEWS: Bye bye computer. I really enjoyed the time I have been able to spend with you. You had been very reliable, except for one small problem that neighbor J was able to resolve quickly. I had become quite attached to you and have been beside myself not being able to spend quality time with you. I was really hoping that it wouldn't come to this and we wouldn't have to part ways, but unfortunately your life has decided to go in another direction, and I am sadly NOT a part of that new life.

THE GOOD NEWS: With the unfortunate demise of my beloved computer, I was very concerned that I would lose all of my pictures and other important documents. Even though I have an external hard drive, I wasn't quite sure I was using it correctly and didn't think anything was being saved, so that is why I just disconnected it. But even though I am not the most computer literate girl out there, and let's just forget about the external hard drive, neighbor J came to my rescue AGAIN. He took the internal hard drive out, took it to his house and YES he was able to save all my pictures and everything else! Thank goodness!

THE BAD NEWS: Since my computer cannot be saved, I will have to get a new one. Unfortunately, this had to happen at the worst time of year, when it's Christmas and I have already spent the little money I have on gifts. On top of that I will be having 2 weeks of short weeks at work due to the holidays falling on Saturdays. So it looks like I will be without a computer for the rest of this year. Maybe 2011 will bring me some good luck and cheer!

Aww shoot why don't you live closer to me. I just sold a laptop for almost nothing. It was a couple years old but it worked. Shoot.

I'm so happy they got your pictures off for you! And I sure hope you get a new computer soon. Have you tried Craigslist? You don't need much--older computers are just as good for the internet--and you have an external hard drive--so you don't have to have a lot of internal memory. We have one sitting out in our garage--an old desktop. We switched to all laptops and didn't use it anymore. Maybe someone in your area has one, too. Do you still have your monitor?

I am glad your photos are saved and that you did not loose all of your memories! Sorry your machine died, and we are going to miss you while you are waiting for a new one. I think I am on my way to a new one soon myself because I have outgrown my space on it. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the season. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Linda- Yes I still have my monitor, my OH had just bought me a new flat screen monitor a few months ago. My OH and I have been talking and even though we can't afford a new computer right now, we really want something better then we had. So we will wait until we can afford the upgrade. And I can't wait!

Happy Holidays Paint Girl and I want you to know that I am thinking good thoughts for you that all your hard work this year is rewarded with someone buying you a new computer for Christmas!
You need to have some way to chronicle the early steps of one adorable Chance baby!

Think of the good side- computers are really cheap right now because of Christmas sales.

Keep your eyes open after Christmas. You know they will have some great sales.

Sounds like J is a good man to have around. Those computer geeks know how to do that kind of stuff. You're lucky to have one.

Sorry to hear your computer is toast. Mine is still limping along but at least it's limping. I'd been lost when mine was down for just a few days, Can't imagine how you're feeling. Hang in there.

Maybe Santa will carry a new computer down your chimney!!! ss much as I resist technology, I reap so many benefits from having it around, including being able to read your blog! I hope you get a new computer soon!

And at least 2010 is almost over.

Nothing is worse than loosing the pictures and things that can't be replaced...so glad you have them. Wishing you and your OH happy holidays!!!

I'm glad he was able to save you stuff. That's what I worry about most is my pictures. They are irreplaceable in my opinion. Everything else can be replaced. A helpful hint (which I'm sure you neighbor already told you) is usually it's cheaper to replace whatever part is messed up than to buy a whole new computer. I'm replaced video cards, hard drives, motherboards etc. rather than buy a whole new computer. Good luck!!!
