Goodbye Simba....

We had to euthanize one of our beloved cats last weekend. Simba was 14 years old and had lost weight in the last year. We thought she didn't like the dry food we had been feeding which is a special food we have to feed Dakota, and she used to eat it fine so we increased the wet food. She started putting on weight again and everything seemed fine. Until last week. She just quit eating and lost weight and started acting really funny. She looked like she had a cold so I told my OH to get her in to the vet. After they examined her the DR said that we could do further testing but he said it looked like there would be nothing we could do to save her. She had deteriorated so quickly. We chose to euthanize her.

She had a great life with us and she was the most obnoxious cat I've ever had. She was a big talker and would follow you everywhere and holler. Simba, you were loved and will be greatly missed! RIP beautiful, long haired girl!!

On top of losing our cat, I woke up yesterday with the worst cold ever. I am so sick and I leave for Tulsa this week. I tried packing today, but had to stop. I just do not have the energy. I woke up last night with the worst sore throat I have ever had. It was so painful and I was up searching my house for something to help relieve the pain. Thank goodness the sore throat was better this morning. But the cold is in my head and chest and the cough is so painful. I sure hope I can survive this long drive to Tulsa. I haven't had a cold since the day I left for Scottsdale, and it's just my bad luck to hit me right before I leave for Tulsa.

I will be gone now until November. I hope everyone has a great month. Sorry I didn't get any remodel picture's up, but with Simba, this cold and a crazy weekend, I just have not had the energy to get it done.

I'm sorry for your loss, I know you consider your animals family not just pets. (as do I)

Have you ever tried using a neti pot? I swear it helps me get rid of my colds faster.

Sorry to hear about Simba - she had a good life with you guys...

Hope you can find some meds to help with the cough - I'm just coming out of 7 days with the flu and the coughing is the worst part.

Have a safe drive to Tulsa

Isn't it amazing how our bodies react to grief? Not surprised you became sick at all after such a loss. Hope you get to feeling better

So sorry for your loss. Our pets are such a part of our families and it is so rough to lose them. But, as a responsible pet owner you did what she needed. She is chasing dogs at the Rainbow Bridge now!

I am so sorry about Simba. 14 years old is a good long life for a cat and I am betting Simba had the most awesome life with you. That's what's most important I think. It doesn't help that you aren't feeling well and you've got a trip to Tulsa just around the corner, but at least you know that Simba is not suffering. (Also very important)
Have a good trip, Paint Girl, I'll bet you'll find some cool things to experience along the way. Like maybe a fun hot tub nestled in between some amber waves of grain.

This has been a tough time for several of us. I am so sorry for the loss of your Simba.

This loving of animals sure is hard on our hearts. The years of love and devotion we get from them is so worth it though.
