RIP Morgan!

Our sweet 17 year old cat Morgan is gone. She disappeared 2 weeks ago. She had been showing signs of age in the last year and we had a feeling she might not make it through the winter. I believe she went out in the woods, went to sleep and never woke up. We looked for her, called her and we couldn't find her. She always came when we called, actually she would come to a whistle. She was our outdoor kitty. She loved being outside.

She hated being inside. Being in the house was pure torture for her. She was our killer. She kept our mouse and mole population down. Although I didn't like her killing the birds, it made her happy. She even brought baby bunnies home, which I did not like either. And I can't even count how many snakes she would bring to me and drop at my back door, still alive so when I would walk out the door I would almost step on them and I would scream and freak out. That is something I could have done without, but it sure gives me a good laugh now. She took hunting seriously and she was extremely proud of her kill.

She was my OH's special baby. He had a special bond with her and loved her more then anything. I brought her home 17 years ago as a Christmas present for him. We didn't get to say goodbye, she was just gone one morning. It's hard losing a pet that you have had for 17 years. They become a part of the family and she was one of our kids. Goodbye sweet Morgan. We will miss you!!!

So sorry, cats are funny that way, they leave us often with nothing more than the wisp of their tails as they head out on one last adventure

Oh, I'm so sorry about Morgan. Yes, it hurts a lot to lose a family member, but I'm glad she had such a wonderful life with you. She enjoyed and lived her life, which is all any of us can do. We have mostly outdoor cats as well, and that's the most common way to lose them. One day they're here, and then the next day, they're gone. Cuts like a knife, but maybe she just knew it was her time. Big hugs to you and your OH.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
We can never allow any cats outside here in New Mexico. We did twice..and we learned our lesson. It always ends badly quickly. There are many packs of coyotes here and owls and other predators...a free-roaming cat won't last a day.

So hard to say good-bye, even after a long, rich and eventful life. And very pretty on top of that. Very sorry to hear she's gone.
