Remember When?
I barely remember the warm, lovely, sunny summer days. It's been so long since I have seen a warm and lovely day, but I have seen the sun a couple times since October. The rest of the time it has been cloudy, rainy and cold. Miserable in other words. I can deal with the cold, but the rain? I am begging it to stop.
I barely remember what a tank top is. Or a tan. I am pretty sure I am lacking in Vitamin D considering we see the sun only a few times in the winter. I barely remember what it feels like to have the warm sunshine rays beam down on my skin.
All I remember is the recent snow storm, the bitter cold, the few wind storms we have already had and the recent flooding.
All I remember is that I leave for work when it's dark and I come home from work when it's dark.
All I remember is that on my days off it is usually raining out.
All I remember is that I miss my horses. I miss spending time with them, I miss riding them and I miss loving on them.
If only I could remember what summer was like...... do I see Scottsdale in my future, where I might see the sun again and feel the sun rays beam down on my face?

I have same feelings about the winter. And in here it is really cold too, and of course we have lots of snow right now... I don´t enjoy winter, but here in Finland you just have to live with it...
We don´t see the sun much during the winter, but summers are great, it feels that sun is shining all the time!
Hold on to the thoughts of Scottsdale and the knowledge that there are 2 minutes more of daylight every day.
Oh wow I feel bad for enjoying the sun after reading your post but remember winter will end before you know it and then us down here in the southern hemisphere will be the ones in the wet and cold.Take time to enjoy the shaggy warmth of winter coats ...the steam of your horses breath.....hoof prints in the snow ....warm in the knowledge that summer is coming
I hope you get to go to Scottsdale, to warm up a bit, even though you would be busy there!
Winter is so tough - the lack of sun really gets to you after a while!
If you go somewhere that still knows what the sun is I want to go too!!!
My grandma, who has lived in Hawaii for over 20 years, says the same thing about living in Washington for 50 years; "You left for work and it was dark and you came home and it was dark."
Every winter here I swear I want it to be my last. Sorry, no look on the bright side from me:(
I'm not sure I can ever get warm again. Brrrr! I can't even remember when my horses didn't have thick, fuzzy, dirty coats. Funny thing, on one of our really cold days (about 5F), Annie has shedding really long hairs. She must have grown in a new undercoat.
Hang in there! (I say from Florida where we haven't seen the sun and warmth too much either.) We all must be headed for some nice weather soon. We are going home to Pennsylvania and February is the month there when the sun never shines. Ugh! I dread it!
I hope you warm up in Scottsdale.
I know that feeling. We have had a mild winter here up until right after Christmas and even though it has only been a couple of weeks, I am already looking forward to warmer days. I just don't do winter that well anymore.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get to Scottsdale this time during the Arabian Show. LOL-I am determined to get down there and look at properties.
You should grab a Vitamin D supplement from Walmart or where ever. I feel soooo much better since I started taking one.
Summer will be here before you know it. Hang in there!
It's the time of year to curl up with a good book and forget the weather. But I know what you mean, I wish I had an indoor arena right now to get out of the wind.
It may be cold here, but at least we've got sunshine on a lot of the days.
You'll be basking in that AZ sunshine!!! Just hang on!
My...look how Chance has grown!!
Arizona has been pretty cold, too, though. And the biggest part of your winter doldroms would be missing if you went to AZ....your horses. :(
You know, here in NM we get over 325 days of sunshine a year, and just the other day my doctor gave me my test results back and told me that I needed to up my Vitamin D intake. Can you believe it?
If mine is low, with all our sunshine, yours is probably in the danger zone, girlfriend. lol!
Hang in there,
~Lisa
Hugs PG, we have snow but at least we see some sun too .Spring will come, and with it all good things I hope for you
The weather in Scottsdale in February was wonderful last year. I wish I could do it again, but I have to save the trip for August when I fly out to Tempe to enroll my son in college.
You should be taking a vitamin D supplement!
I like that pic of G with Fritzy!! It will be hard to imagine that before too long, we will be complaining about dust and the heat and the flies. I am sure your little side trips to the desert will help lift your spirits! A ride in the canyons on a Tennessee Walker....we'll get your OH hooked!!
XO PONY GIRL
As I'm reading this and knowing what the weather report is for what's coming next, I'm thinking it's probably not a good thing to be complaining about the rain at this moment since it really could, and is expected to get worse. Snow for the weekend and then more snow towards the end of next week. Considering with the snow probably will come more ice and maybe even power outages. YUCK!
But I'm sure with you on being ready for some summer sunshine. Thinking about Scottsdale all I can wonder is what is the darn trip going to be like with the odd weather across the country this year. If you go, I'm sure hoping for a safe safe trip both ways.
Damn girl - can I ever relate!! Winters in the NW truly suck!!! I hate them, and like you, I'm glow in the dark white, look sickly, hate mud and cold and most of all RAIN!!! Talk about a 4-letter word! LOL!! And...I miss my ponies too! I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark...hate that!!! Can you tell that I'm going a little bit crazy!!?? Let's run off to Scottsdale (or anywhere sunny) fast before I pop a vein or something!! BTW...I love what you've done with your blog...beautiful pictures and your baby has grown soooo much - he's adorable!! Take care!!
I so hear ya! I'm lucky that I have an indoor arena to ride in now but even so, when the temp gets into the single digits and below zero, riding just doesn't seem like a good idea.
Do you know that just tonight I was looking at pictures from the summer when everything was so green and warm and I almost put one on my own blog! I am bummed for you with all that terror by Mother Nature. She is so terrible. Maybe in Scottsdale you will get sunshine...but then you'll miss your horses and OH! Paint Girl, I hope your stars line up spoon!
The hardest part for me is losing the momentum I worked so hard for all spring and summer. It's not so much the weather as not having enough daylight hours.
Chance is getting so BIG!!! And she looks a great deal like her mom, except not the same color. I can hardly wait for you to begin to climb on her back. Hey...did you see I've been on Tika?
Hope y'all are doing well and staying warm. Rain? I wish. At least that's honest mud, unlike this 'white mud' :)
No kidding i am right there with you girl! Scottsdale would be a miracle wouldn't it?! Sigh.....
Oh Paint Girl! I hope you can make a trip down here to P.S. while we are here! Sounds like you really need it girl!
Oh, I forgot to say....I can't believe how LONG Chances mane is getting! WOWZER! She almost looks like a Rocky Mountain! Love it!
