This picture was taken during the snow storm right before Thanksgiving.
Maybe it's the new computer, maybe it's because I don't have all my files transferred to my new computer yet or maybe it's just my plain stupidity on computer technology, but I can't get my pictures to move once I get them uploaded in blogger. I used to be able to move my pictures once I downloaded them all into blogger, now once I attempt to move a picture my screen freezes up on me and I can't do anything at all and have to log out and log back in just to be able to do anything in blogger. So I will only be able to share one picture until I get this all figured out. My patience level has gone down quite a few notches in the last couple months and I don't have patience for things that used to be so easy and are no longer working like they should. A long time ago I had switched to the Firefox browser and that basically eliminated any and all issues I ever had with Blogger. I am trying not to download anything I had before because my neighbor will be transferring all my stuff from my old hard drive to my new computer and I want to make it as easy as possible without a bunch of unneccessary steps for him. But is it making my life more difficult now? Most likely, but it's not like I have any amazing photos to share. I was just hoping to share a little of what has been going on around these parts.
It has been absolutely, chillingly (is that a word?) cold here for the last week. It gets into the upper teens to low 20's during the night and does not get above freezing during the day. We had some snow too, so the ground is all white and extremely frozen. It's been quite miserable at work. I dress in numerous layers and last week was a crazy, but good week. A lot of hurry up and wait. The waiting is the worst, because then the cold starts to settle into the bones. Once I get home, I feel like I can't get warm again. Even with a fire going in the woodstove. But I am surviving. I think it is supposed to warm up just a little this week. If we hit 40 degrees, that will be a heat wave to me!
We are quite frustrated about the mud situation here on the farm. It is so out of control. Our property is naturally wet anyways with the creek that runs through and the pond. But even at the upper most part of the horse pasture, it's a lake. The water just has no where to go. I think a lot of that water comes in from the neighbors side because it is like a retention pond on the property line. And we can't do anything about it this time of year. We would have to wait until June, when it dries out. But last year it didn't even dry out until July. We do have a plan for when it does dry out, lets just hope the cash doesn't dry up before then. It is going to take a fortune to fix 2 pastures, and even when we did the french drains and gravel in the pasture that my sister's boy is in, it definitely could use some more work too! Looks like we will have to wait out the rest of the winter and get on it the first long stretch of warm, dry weather we have.
So besides computer and mud frustrations, everything else is going good. I've just been busy working, going to hockey games, taking all the Christmas stuff down, cleaning house, catching up on all that needs catching up on and trying to get a little "me" time. I just want a day of laziness, sitting my the woodstove reading a good book and not pull my nose out of said book for a day........if only it were that easy!

I despise cold like you're describing... when it gets into my bones the only way I can warm up is by taking a hot bath or curling up under an electric blanket.
I hope it warms up soon!
Sorry to hear about your computer troubles and the mud and cold... None of those things are fun - all are extremely frustrating!
Hope the computer situation sorts itself out soon...
And the mud, well, I hope you guys can go ahead with some tiling/draining in the summer. Mud is just so tough to deal with when the horses are in it all the time.
Hope it warms up for you too!
Gorgeous picture.
When I move pictures, I use the Edit HTML tab on Blogger. Then just cut & paste the text of the picture. I never could just move the pictures easily. I have been having IE problems lately, too. Switched to Firefox but having a hard time getting used to something new. Dang computers.
Happy New Year. Always good to hear from you.
I am so with you on the mud situation. I can't believe how quickly our horses churn the ground up. The one good thing about the snow was that the horses were coming in clean and dry. As soon as the mud goes, we are back to soggy horses and I worry so much about mud fever. At least now our mud tracks outside the fields have been covered in road planes, so we're not pushing heavy wheelbarrows through knee deep mud. You'll get there in the end, try not to worry about it.
the mud sounds very irritating , we only usually struggle with that in spring. Hope you get that quiet day soon
I feel for you and your frustrations. I really don't know how you guys in the PNW deal with all that moisture. We only get mud a few times a year, usually after a lot of snow and it drives me crazy. But thankfully it all dries up in a day or two. I know I'd not be able to live with it every day for months. gah!
I will never (try not to) complain about our lack of rain around here and how dry it is.
Computers can be very frustrating...and blogger, too. Hang in there.

It's cold here, too. I can't imagine why blogger wouldn't let you move the pictures around. I always cut and paste in the html form. Is that how you do it?
Sounds like we're both struggling with the same things although I suspect the temperatures get a wee bit colder up your way but I don't know that for sure. Still it's so cold my body just can't acclimate. Even taking a warm shower to try and warm up isn't working. I'd like to just stay in bed with the covers pulled up over my head to stay warm.
They say it's going to be raining by the end of the week so at least the freezing temps will be gone for a while but that' definitely exacerbate the mud issues. I longing for spring.
Hope you get your new computer figured out. I have no patience for learning new things there, I just want the darn thing to be easy since that's what computers are supposed to do, aren't they, make things easier. LOL
Happy New Year!!!
It sounds like we're on the same track right now. I would love to get some real good "me time" in, but just can't seem to make the time. So much to do, so little time and money to do it! And the weather! Oh man, the weather...let's just not go there! lol At least the days are getting longer.
Hope you get your computer stuff figured out and the mud doesn't get any worse! Happy new year! Hope it's a good one for you!
We've been cold and WET here too for much longer than we normally get a cold spell. I don't like riding in 6 layers ; The change in uploading pictures has caused me some issue because if I don't load them all at once...once I post one I can NOT up load anymore unless I log out/in again. Also took awaile for me to figure out the curser needs to be right where I want the picture to go because the drag & drop does not work the same...can be so frustrating!!!
I also find my patience is REALLY thin right now, emotionally I feel like I have been ridden hard and put away wet!!!
Brr, that cold is what is has been like here for a month or more, but we dont ussually warm up enough to get mud, so I guess its not all bad to be cold.
I have been having blogger picture problems too, not sure how to fix it but I hope its gone by next time i try to post. Hope it all goes away once you get all your old stuff on the new computer.
Well, for what it's worth, that one picture you were able to upload is an awesome one.
Sorry about your computer issues and mud problems. You have probably already thought of this but have you guys considered putting in some drains - the annoying expensive kind where you dig up and rearrange the ground with gravel and other sorts of draining material? We can't do that at our currently place because much of it is considered wetland so we can't dig it up and drain it. But there was a place we looked at when we were house shopping that had all these drains put in and sure enough in a place where it should be that house and the surrounding property is bone dry in the spring.
Yes, I'm ready for this cold to move on...I'll take 32 for a heat wave!! At least it's not wet...but we have lots of treacherous ice; but it's so dry that lots of the ice is dissipating thank goodness.
Chin up on those dang computer issues...it'll get better. Look forward to the pics.
I upload all my images to Flickr and then copy and past the HTML for each shot back into my post. It's easy (whether you use Blogger or Wordpress) - you just go into the HTML option in your post as you write it and paste there... easier to manage sizes etc this way too.
Hope that helps.
And hope you get warm soon!
:-)

I know what you mean about the 40s being a heat wave -- we feel the same way around here. And yes, mud is the worst!! Sounds like your neighbors property is not graded properly, so it flows onto yours. Not an easy situation to remedy.
I always have trouble with pictures on my blog. I cannot place them easily. I manage to do it, but I know there must be an easier way. Hope you get your computer problems solved soon...
I was only able to move pics when I first started blogging. After that I moved them with the HTML editing option. I put in little "markers" so I know where I want the pics and then delete them after. (like a line of **** or something)
:( Boo, Hiss, reowr, about all of your computer woes - I can totally relate to those frustrations. I'm thankful for Brian, who is very good with computers - he's been a Godsend!
I hope you find a good solution for the mud, it's an awful substance and what a mess it creates.
I hope you had a good New Year and that you get your day (or 2) of rest soon!!
Sorry to hear about the computer and mud. I definitely think you ought to take a day SOON by the fire with that book. Take it - you so deserve it!
hi paint girl! poor thing you are so thin you can't get warm. if you had some of my fat you would be fine! :) on the blogger pics issue, after you upload all of your pics you want to use that day do you not put the 'blinking indicator' (not sure of correct terminology) between the certain paragraphs you want to add the pics? no more dragging like the old blogger...then of course put your indicator over the right side of the newly positioned pics to choose which size you want. if you decide you want a new pic other than the group you just put in, blogger won't allow that once you are done uploading. just save your post and stay in your blog and go to another part like pages, or design, etc. then imnmediately go back to edit the post and it will allow you to upload the more pics. hope that helps, email me at farmtails@gmail.com if i can help any more...take care!
Paint Girl, I am glad you are blogging, but I am sorry that everything out there is working against you: computer, blogger, mother nature! At least you do not have any injuries! That is one thing to be grateful for. We have terrible weather here too--very cold and wintery, but sans winter fun. It is funny how so many people take their xmas stuff down so fast! I will be keeping my tree up for another week or 2! I love it too much to get rid of it!
I've had problems with blogger too. I can't use the new editor at all. I don't know which one you are using but you can change it under your settings. When I move pictures I have to cut and paste them, I can't drag them. Also when you first upload them you have to enter a few blank spaces above them before you can cut them. Good luck!
I understand with the mud. It hasn't been bad this year for me because we haven't been getting any moisture at all!
I'm glad everything else is going well. :)
