My Home Away From Home.....

When we are in Scottsdale we usually rent a condo, which is really nice for us since we live out of hotel rooms for the rest of the show season. But this year, the lady who owns the condo had already rented it out, so we had to find a new place to stay. My boss, D, started looking around for a new place to rent a couple months before we were to leave for Scottsdale. He found some condo's and a house. He talked to all of us girls to get our opinion. Comparing the 2 options it was a no-brainer on what option we wanted, the house. Plus the house actually was going to be cheaper to rent then the condo's. The only nerve wracking thing was that D found the house online. He saw pictures and talked to the owner quite a bit. But you never know what you are really gonna get until you get there, or if you will actually have a house to stay in. You always hear about con artists, and we definitely were thinking we could have been conned when our security code wouldn't work in the gate.

But, the house owner was totally legit, and the house was all that and then some! Please join me for the tour of my home away from home....

The living room~ this is where we watched t.v., relaxed and basically had our "family" gatherings. The house had a surround sound system that played throughout the house and outside.

The kitchen~ We all know what the kitchen is for, and we made really good use of it! D's uncle L even came over and made us dinner: spare ribs, potatoes, salad and veggies. It was an awesome dinner! Plus the night we entertained our clients, we had 25 + people over and we made great use of the kitchen and living room.

The dining room

The family room~ this room was so nice, that we hardly even went in there. I couldn't even get it all in the picture it was so big. The view of the pool and cactus was amazing!

My bedroom~ we are so used to having 2-4 girls in one hotel room. I actually got my OWN bedroom with a bathroom! All to myself!! That was so nice. I could just go into my own little retreat and shut the door to get away from everyone else. Not like I needed to get away from everyone else, but it was nice to be able to get some really quiet, down time, alone!

The barbecue area~ This area was one of the favorites, not just for me, but for everyone. It was so peaceful, relaxing and we would sit on the couch during the warm evenings.

The landscape~ there were cactus and palm trees (are there palm trees in Arizona?) all over. I just love cactus! I was going to have A take a picture of me in front of those really big cacti, but I totally forgot!

The pool~ this was the favorite place to be, as long as it wasn't raining! A and I would hang out on those lounge chairs, and they were so comfortable! I really need to get a couple of those for my house! Too bad we couldn't take just one day off and lay out in the sun! But unfortunately we can't do that. In case you were wondering, the pool is not heated, so it was ice cold!! So no swimming!

We would sit out on the patio, have a drink, relax and watch the sun set. Beautiful way to end a hectic show day!

We just loved the house. We are already in talks to the owner about renting it again next year. It sounds like he might be out of the country again at the same time, fingers crossed! We are some spoiled girls!

Stay tuned! My next Scottsdale post will be about the show and the trip home!!

Wow, nice! So much better than a hotel or condo.

Now that is stylin'! I cannot wait until we get a place bought down there. I am really hoping this year. I'd like to take advantage of what is available right now. A lot more bang for your buck than when we lived there. ;-)

That is a gorgeous house!! And your own room, I get what you mean about having your own space.
Speaking of con artists, I have to say I'm not trusting enough to rent out my furnished house to complete strangers. lol

BEC - my father-in-law bought a house in AZ (Queen Creek? Cave Creek??) for a total steal. He paid half of what we got for our house that we sold this summer... and the AZ house is way newer, gated community, pool...

cdncowgirl~ I am with you, I would never rent my house to strangers either! Never! But we did have to pay a damage deposit and I am assuming there was some kind of credit or even background check done on our farm! Now the farm is talking about renting a house in Tulsa this year. Considering that we changed hotels 3 times in 4 nights last time~ yeah, time for a change! Hopefully we can find a decent house there too!

How beautiful, and how nice you didn't have to be trapped in a little hotel room. Bet you slept a lot better, too.

What a beautiful house! So nice that you were able to relax a little too, I'm sure that helped you heal from your cold! I hope you were able to get some relief from that :(.

I'm excited to hear all about the show!

That makes me want to go to Scottsdale!! I love it down there this time of year....and with this crappy weather...I'm thinking I'd love it even more. I'm so glad you got a nice place to stay--that makes a big difference!

That place will spoil you for future adventures! I am sure it was so nice to be able to get some relaxation while you were gone. It would be nice if you had that sort of a set up when you come back to Tulsa instead of those awful hotels. Anxious to see how the show went.

Wow! That place is gorgeous! A lot better than a hotel room, that's for sure. Too bad you couldn't think of a way to extend the trip. :)

What decadence! I was shocked by the suite my hotel gave me in Scottsdale last year. For what I was paying, I didn't expect much at all, but I was in heaven. I guess people in Scottsdale value nice, big living spaces.

Wow tahts a pretty nice house to stay in for the time you are there, way better and more relaxing than a hotel room! Would be nice to get it again next year.

This looks like a great home away from home. I would love to have a pool during nice weather, however we can just swim in the puddles during the winter in this state!

The first thing I thought of when you referenced the usual was the fiasco where you had to change motels, yours was so bad.

This is sooooooooooooo much better than that. Amazing!

Oh my gosh!!!! What a great house. The trip was horrid but it looks like you guys had a super payback in your house. You had your own room?! How cool is that?!

I hope you get it again for next year. That pool looks beautiful - too bad it is too cold to swim, but at least you got some down time there.

That house looks truly AWSUM! I am so glad that this part of your trip was totally up to snuff! I would not mind being in a house like that one bit! How great for you and everyone! And then your own bedroom! You must be the alpha girl!!!
