I'm Pooped...

I am so exhausted from the horse show last weekend. It was absolutely crazy. We had 14 horses for a 3 day show and numerous back to back classes. I do not know how we got it done, but we did. We had a really good show, numerous 1sts and Championships, with a little bit of everything else. And the weather actually cooperated for once! It was really cold for a couple of days but the sun did make an appearance for a day and a half. That felt really good. I even got to chat with Mikael from Mikael's Mania Arabians a few times. It was great getting to talk to her and seeing her beautiful stallion, Legs. I am just glad that the show is over with, because this show did me in!

My silly Aussie's were very happy to see me again. My OH told me that Bailey checked my side of the bed every morning while I was gone to see if I magically appeared. I didn't. I am sure he was awfully depressed when he woke up to not find me in bed. Apparently this morning when Bailey did his 4:00 a.m. bed check (Bailey does these bed checks every morning, but only with me), he got pretty aggressive with waking me up. My OH told me he took his whole head and put it under my arm and flung it up in the air, 3 times! My OH told me that I woke up and said "Bailey quit!" and then reached over and petted him. I don't remember waking up, nor do I remember saying anything..... I told my OH that must have happened last week, because I always remember when Bailey wakes me up. My OH said that it was this morning and I did wake up. Hmmmm..... I have now resorted to talking in my sleep. Interesting.

My farrier was scheduled to come out today, but I called and rescheduled my appointment. Besides being extremely exhausted, I woke up with a pounding headache and the weather was not cooperating. It was pouring like crazy and cold. The last thing I wanted to do was be outside in the rain with my head pounding. My farrier is very understanding and knows what I do for a living. I felt so bad because I couldn't get a hold of him until about 45 minutes before our appointment. I told him why I needed to reschedule and I said it probably wasn't a very good excuse, but I just did not want to be out in the rain. He understood and we rescheduled in 2 weeks. That just means that if the sun ever comes out on a Sunday, that we won't be able to go on a trail ride. Fritzy was going to be getting her shoes put back on, and she won't be able to be ridden on the trails until then.

I only get the one day off and back to work on Tuesday. I doubt I will have recovered by then, it will probably take me the rest of the week for that to happen. I am hoping for some decent weather, looks like some rain all week and only one day without it. I guess that will be the day I will have to go out and groom my own horses.

There is another horse show in a couple weeks, but I am not going to that one. I have a wedding to go to, so I will be at home taking care of the farm horses. I am looking forward to that. I like it when I get to stay home, it gives my back a break, although it has been feeling better lately.

Well, this girl is pooped so I must leave it at that. My bed is calling my name......

I really admire you, girlfriend. I don't know how you stay standing with such a busy schedule and hardly any time off.
I'm thinking your sleep talking was related to exhaustion delirium.

Take care of yourself and I hope things slow down...and the sun shines for you soon!

I hope you can get rested up this week - I'm exhausted just reading about your schedule!!

I talk in my sleep all the time - I have conversations with my hubby and don't remember a thing! lol Apparently I ask him all kinds of weird questions... :-)

I also don't know you do it. My body aches just reading of your exploits. And I'm sure your farrier appreciates not having to slog around in the mud.

Cool that you got to meet MiKael.

Good plan to reschedule the farrier and take care of yourself. We are having the same kind of mostly cloudy and rainy weather but the sun is shining today and I took the day off. Spending some time trying to catch up with everyone but not too much time. I need to take advantage of that sun!

I don't know how you do it either. It's got to be SO physically exhausting. I do one or two horses at a show once in a while, and I feel like I've been run over by a truck at the end of the day. You do these shows for days on end and I've seen you running around. You are amazing!
Rest up and feel better. I'm sending sunshine your way!!

It was a nice show but I'm as glad as you are that it's over. I was almost relieved it rained on Monday so I didn't have to do much. Now that's really saying a lot.

Hope your first day back at work went well. I remember when I used to groom, the week after horse shows everyone seemed to be in slow motion for a couple of days. The work all seemed to get done in the same amount of time but there was that tired fog that surrounds everyone, even the horses, I think.

I forgot you hadn't actually seen Legs when we first met. I should have brought him up to you so he could say "Hi." He's such a people horse and you could have gotten a grasp of what a clown he is. Next time.

Hmmm. You're just talking in your sleep? That's not bad. Wait another ten years. You'll be exhausted all the time, but unable to sleep at all. The human body is cruel to itself.

Get some rest. I can't even imagine running after 13. I have helped for 8 max plus showed my own, before I think and felt like the walk dead when I got home too...

I never realized how much hard work it is for big show barns to go to these huge shows. I'm glad you get to stay home for the next one and get some rest. You deserve it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the weather improves so maybe you can get some quality time in with your own horses.
