I'm All Growed Up!!

My little tuxedo baby is almost a year old! How does time go by so fast? Madison is all grown up and I just have to share some super cute pictures of her and Dakota! When we first brought baby Madison home, our other tuxedo, Dakota, wasn't too fond of her, which is normal when you bring a new addition into the home. But it didn't take too long for these 2 monkeys to fall in love, literally!!

After the remodel, we put a cat bed up on one of the fish aquariums. Dakota soon adopted it as "his" bed. So once Maddy figured out how to get up there, she wasn't too happy that Dakota claimed the bed as "his" (at one time it was Maddy's bed, before the remodel and it was on the couch).

Maddy loves to get up on everything! And she doesn't jump up on the wine rack, she literally climbs the side to get to the top! Hence the nickname "Monkey".

My OH went and bought another cat bed and put it on the other fish aquarium, thinking that might solve our problem with who gets the bed. Well, it worked for a week. Maddy slept in "hers" and Dakota slept in "his". But once Dakota found out Maddy had her own bed, he decided to kick her out. So now that one is "his" bed. And now neither of them want the other bed. So we get "monkey wars" over the whole bed situation. We even tried putting both beds on one aquarium. Nope. They didn't like that set up either. I'm telling you, it's really hard to please a monkey!!

The monkey wars always start with a couple licks on the head, then one will swat the other in the head, then vice versa. Eventually they both give up.

Or not. Sometimes the monkey wars move down to the floor and continue on down the hallway into the bedroom, where we might not see them again for an hour.

Maddy has turned out to be the best cat I have EVER had. Seriously. She is the coolest, sweetest and smartest little monkey. She is a lover, gives kisses every single day and has to follow me everywhere! She cuddles on my lap every night, sleeps on the bed with me and can still hold her own with the big Dakota monkey! Nothing that this cat does is really "normal". She sleeps sitting up, she stands up like a groundhog, she shows me where we keep the spoons so she can get her canned food and she loves water.

Grumpy monkey might have protested her arrival last summer, but he has now found his true love.

She has the softest, squeaky meow. It is so baby like and she will never get her big girl voice. When she stretches out, she squeaks. When she curls into a ball, she squeaks. She is a squeaker and I love it! She loves her toy mice. She will unravel the cord that makes the mice body, and then she drags it all over the house. She will even eventually pull the cord off the plastic body completely and just play with the cord. She will carry the cord all over and I call this her "monkey string". I just had to throw a cord away the other day because it was destroyed from her playing with it so much. She was upset and looked for her "monkey string" for the rest of the day!

Last night, little monkey Maddy climbed into big monkey Dakota's bed. Big monkey wasn't too happy. He went to the other aquarium and just sniffed the other bed and walked right by it and jumped down to the floor. Then he jumped up onto the other aquarium where little monkey was sleeping. I wasn't paying much attention, but a little while later I had gotten up and walked by the aquarium, and I couldn't believe my eyes! I backed up and grabbed my cell phone. Big monkey had just climbed right into the bed with the little monkey. I think they were sleeping that way for awhile. And I didn't even notice!!

But as soon as I got my phone and headed back to take a picture, I tripped over a toy cat mouse and woke up little monkey. I barely made it in time to get a picture of the evidence!! Two monkeys in the same bed!! I love my monkeys!!

Cats, gotta love 'em. Our latest, Sammy, is also different than most. He's not at all shy around strangers, which I've never seen before.

Maddy sounds like a sweet pea! My cat is grumpy and doesn't want to be bothered... I wish she was sweet and cute like yours! Want to trade?! :)

Great update! I love tuxedo cats - my favourite cat as a kid was one... Although, I do love my tabbies! :-) I'm a total cat person... our 3 keep us entertained.

I like seeing them sleep in the same bed together - the cuteness is too much! Our 3 will all sleep together, but one of them usually gets squeezed out and has to go find somewhere else to sleep.
