Overwhelming Shopping Trip!!

While I was taking my blogger break, we were very busy. Busy as bees. We have bought all new furniture for the new remodeled house. We unexpectedly found the bedroom set of my dreams and my sweet OH bought it for me. Not only did we get a beautiful dark wood king size sleigh bed, but we got 2 matching nightstands, 2 dressers one with a mirror and new lamps for the nightstands. It is so pretty. I have never had bedroom furniture before, well not a whole matching set anyways!! So I was pretty darn excited. This picture here was taken by my cell phone so it is quite dark and it is hard to see the actual color of the furniture. This is right after it was delivered. I will get better pictures with my actual camera this week!!

We also bought a new dining room table with matching server and new coffee table with end tables. All of our old pieces were outdated and unmatched. Where we had the biggest problem was picking out new leather furniture. Either nothing was in the right color, or it wasn't the right look or the right comfort level. I found out that I am just way too picky. Oh well....after numerous shopping trips all over different cities, we finally were sent to an all leather furniture store. We were able to pick out the look we wanted, as well as the comfort of the couch. We then got to pick our own color and quality of the leather. The only thing is that by doing a custom order like this, we could possibly have to wait until May to get our new couch, love seat and recliner....but we stopped into the furniture store yesterday and it is supposed to be on the truck next week!! Yeah!!!

This is the style of couch we bought. But it is not this color. We did pick brown, but it is a little darker, and it's more rough looking, if that makes sense. I actual can't really remember what I picked, but I know I fell in love with the color when I picked it out!!

This recliner did not go with the couch and love seat, but since we were able to custom order our color and leather, we liked the comfort of this recliner better then the one that actually went with the couch. So again, this is not the right color. The couches and recliner will all be the same leather and color! When we get the furniture delivered I will take pictures!!

Besides buying new furniture, we only had one more major part of our remodel to do. And that would be taking on the project of buying all new light fixtures for every room in the house. Now that the house is updated, the light fixtures look pretty silly when they are still in the 80's style. So we went on a shopping trip yesterday. We walked into a specialty lighting store and oh my goodness!! Overwhelmed is an understatement!! I don't think we realized what we were getting ourselves into. We walked around the store with thousands and thousands of light fixtures. I mean, really, where the hell do you start? I told my OH we should just start with one room, but my goodness, I don't even think that was possible!! Now I know why I am not a designer! I could never pick anything out with so many options! One of the sales people came up to us and when we mentioned we needed to replace all of our light fixtures, she said that they do free in-home consultations. Which means they send someone to your house and they go through every room, see what you need, find out your style and what you can spend. So yeah, we are going that option. I called and talked to someone about that today. It would be one thing if we were just doing one room, but we need to do the dining room, kitchen, entry way, hall, bedrooms and one bathroom (the master bath was done a couple years ago when we remodeled after a water pipe broke). So that is the latest scoop on the remodel. We are still plugging away.....just a little slower then planned. Next on my agenda is going through all those darn tubs and putting things away in the house, or in the garage sale pile. I am thinking that if I don't know it's not here, then most likely it will all be garage sale material. I am totally thinking on the minimalist level now. The less the better!!

Getting new furniture is so fun - I hear you on the old, mismatched stuff....we are working on replacing our furniture too!

Light fixture shopping is the worst!!! I had to buy 2 new ones for my house and I went to 5 stores before finding something. Having to buy for the whole house would put me over the edge! lol

Good that they are sending someone over for a consult - that should help!

Furniture shopping is the worst for me... I can never find what I want, and then after I buy it, I decided I don't like it anymore! Your furniture looks lovely, though, and I'm glad you love it!

Very nice! Did that purple blanket on the bottom of your bed used to be your Mom's? Or did you both have one. It looks familiar but since I haven't been to your house I know I haven't seen it there!

Love your new bed and sofa. We are doing new laminate flooring, getting rid of all carpeting, and I'm also using the occasion to go thru stuff. I'm with you on the minimalism!

VERY NICE! I love the sleigh bed. What fun, new floors, new furniture, AND new lighting. You practically have a new house again.

I just put in laminate floors and am still in the process of setting up the house. I've rearranged the furniture and am getting rid of a lot of it. Fun, isn't it, although I wish I had your budget to buy all new stuff!! :)

Wow I love the bedroom set!! i wish we could buy all new furniture too, the only decent thing we have is a big harvest kitchen table, everything else is mismatched. But I am pushing for a new arena so I dont mind if the furniture is old ;)

Sweet!! I'm trying to go the minimalist route too. :D It's so freeing.

I like the new furniture (the bedroom set is gorgeous!) and I can't wait to see pictures when your couch and recliner arrive.

I'm so glad you're almost done with the remodel. It's such a huge undertaking and I'm sure you're ready to be done with it. :D
