Picture taken in July. I am really wishing that I could be out lunging my horses in shorts again!

We have only had a couple of nice days this week, but I couldn't enjoy them because I was at work. Now it's raining again, then on Saturday it is supposed to be nice, but I have to work. It is supposed to rain again on Sunday and Monday. Figures, since those are my days off. So much for getting horsey stuff done. Looks like I can get started on laundry for my trip.
Chance learning to come to me when I ask.

Since we have a ticket package to our local WHL (Western Hockey League) team, opening night is tomorrow (Friday.) It will be very hectic. I have to leave work by 4:45 so I can get home, shower and hit the road to get to the game on time. It will be a late night and then I have to be up early to go to work on Saturday, leave a little early again because we have another hockey game. We have plans to go out to dinner with some friends after the game so it will be another late night. At least I can sleep in a little on Sunday.
Summer, you can come back anytime!

Our weekends will be quite busy now that hockey has started back up. At least 2 weekends of ours are devoted to hockey. But now that the rainy season has arrived and it is getting dark earlier, I won't be able to do much with the horses. I will be back on the Sunday and Monday schedule, as long as the weather holds, which isn't too likely this time of year.
I seriously need that indoor arena!

Hopefully I will have something of more interest to post about in a few days! Have a great weekend everyone!

Isn't this weather just depressing? I'm so ready to move. A whole month away? That sounds like fun! Hopefully they'll have good weather:)
You are so brave to trailer 2,000 miles. How can you say that isn't interesting to blog about. I hope you can blog about the journey and the time at Nationals.
Good Luck at the Nationals! I want to hear all about it in future blogs! I can totally relate to how busy you are, I was still on a soccer field at 9:00 last night, gotta love it! Drive Carefully!
I hear ya! SUMMER COME BACK! Though this week its been VERY warm but not hot. I honestly will deal with 90 degree weather and humidity we seem to be prone to here instead of cold. Booo, cold.
How are you liking your new arena footing? It looks so nice. Wow, Chance looks great in the pictures, she is really sprouting and I'm loving her thick mane.
I hope you have a very safe trip to and back from Oklahoma. 2,000 miles is a lonnnnng way :(. I am excited to hear about your adventure!
We didn't have much of a summer either. Even our Fall is starting out on an average of 10 degrees colder every day. :( Fall is my favorite time of year! Boo hoo hoo hoo--waaaaaa!
Hope you can get everything done!
I added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to.
God Bless You ~Ron
It's still hot here in NC. I hope we have a fall season for a change... I'll see if I can send about 10 degrees your way! :)
Chance looks beautiful! I just love her color.
Have a safe trip and a wonderful time in Oklahoma!
Relax sweetie.......I am sending good fall weather your way as I type. At least I will if it ever arrives in West Kentucky! It was 95 degrees yesterday! Guess I should be grateful huh?
Chance is looking really good. Does your OH ever work with her?
Ha ha. Remember when you thought you'd never have an arena? Then never thought you'd have sand?? Don't give up on an indoor!! :-)
I wonder what Oklahoma will be like!? Maybe you'll see the Pioneer Woman, LOL! :-)
PONY GIRL
Wishing you the best of luck and a safe trip to the NAtionals. And hoping you get some good weather for your own projects as well
You are sporting true cowgirl attire there!! Glad to see I'm not the only one! Except for I tend to have cotton shorts on LOL! Gosh that is such a long time to be gone!! I live about 3 hours away from Tulsa!! The weather should be fine! Aside from maybe some rain?! It can also go from warm to cold day to day LOL!!
I hope to see you at the Nationals and be safe in your travel.
OMG...I am so jealous that you get to go to nationals!!! How fun! And I know that you will be super busy, but try to take some pictures of the gorgeous ponioes for us, okay??
I am with ya' on the covered arena issue. At least we have several to go to that are affordable and within 5-10n minutes of our house.
I am a bit nervous about this winter, as I have heard we are in for it...whatever that means. : )
Can't wait to hear about the Tulsa show. If I didn't just start a new job, I'd drive to that show just to meet you. Good luck at the show!
That is a long time to be away from home. Yes, weather could be interesting. We got snow in Nebraska on Oct. 10 last year. Granted, that was unusual, but the weather has been so weird lately!
I haven't heard much about your job so I wondered if you had left it! Actually , I really figured you were simply enjoying your own horses. I want summer back too!! And I also want a covered arena! . Being gone for one full month must be hard. I hate traveling for work and ask that they don't send me anywhere. So far, I have been lucky--other people are willing to go. AND you are going to be the primary driver?!?!?! That sounds stressful and crazy! I hope you get paid extra! That cannot be easy, hauling horses around!
Trailboss~ My OH doesn't work with Chance unless I am and then he just holds her for me. He will turn her out in the grass paddock for grazing, then halter her and put her away. But that is about the extent of it!
baystatebrumby~ No extra pay for being a primary driver. Just part of the job! It is stressful, especially when you think about how much money our horses are worth that are in the trailer! That is nerve wracking, but it's gotta be done!
I'd love to hear some tips on hauling 2,000mi. I think that would make for a very interesting post. I have my first 750mi trailer ride coming up this year, and my heart is in my throat about it. We've never hauled our girl more than 1 hour. I've also yet to teach her to stand in our slant divider. I still need to figure out how to go about teaching her that one.

Adventures In Colt Starting
Whooee! You've been busy....or rather, you've never stopped being busy. I enjoyed your post about your trip to AZ and back. I hope you post all the details about this trip, too.
If I were you, I'd be giving up some of the hockey to spend time with my horses, but that's just me...coming from someone who's not that big on hockey. lol! I guess you've just got to figure out what your priorities are and go with it. And also find some time for yourself before you run yourself ragged.
I sure we could have just a little of your rain here. Every day is sunny and dry. So far this year, it's probably rained only about 10 times. And Apache's still lame, so between her lame shoulder and my head/eye injury I've not been able to do any riding since July. bah!
Hoping to ride in an ACTHA Competitive Halloween ride at the end of October, though, if Apache's all healed up.
sigh. It's always something, eh?

Lisa~ Luckily hockey doesn't interfere with my horses. Especially since it gets dark sooner, and before we know it, it will be dark at 5:00 and I don't get home from work until 5:15-5:30, and without that lighted indoor arena, I can't do anything with my horses after work very soon anyways, until my days off. So since I don't get any horse time this time of year because of darkness, we do hockey to entertain ourselves! I didn't become a hockey fan until about 7 years ago. Once we started going to the games, it was all over. Love it!
