Rodeos And Babies!

On one of the days I was at work last week, my OH brought me lunch. After we ate we decided to brave the pouring rain so I could take him out back to see a few of the baby horses. We first stopped for a visit with a super cute half Arab filly by Black Daniels. She is super friendly and very mouthy. She had my entire arm in her mouth a few times. My OH wanted to get a picture so we could send it to his sister so she could show it to our niece, who is absolutely horse crazy. We also called my OH's mom to let her know that one of the days she watches our niece, that I would take them to the barn so she could see the baby horses. She would really love that.

We then ran out to one of the pastures to check out these little Arab colts.

They're not as friendly as the filly and it didn't help that it was raining super hard. They were not making it easy to get pictures!! I would have taken my OH out to the back pastures to see the rest of the babies, but it was raining way too hard. But he fell in love with the ones he saw.

Over the weekend we went to a local rodeo. It is not a big rodeo and I didn't get very many pictures. The weather held out and the sun even made an appearance for a little while. The really neat thing about the location of this rodeo is the mountains in the background. The views are breathtaking!

We have watched this drill team a lot. They perform at all the local rodeos.

The saddle bronc riding was pretty funny. I wish I would have gotten pictures because one of the broncs came bucking straight at the fence right in front of us and the bronc rider got thrown over the fence. He was not hurt.

See what I mean about the view? Beautiful!

There were a lot of barrel racers. Every time I go to a rodeo and the barrel racing starts, it makes me really miss my barrel racing days. I would love to get back into it again. I just don't have a horse that can do it. Brandy isn't sound (she only does trail riding now) and Fritzy is not fast, nor coordinated. She would never make it as a barrel horse. Chance is too young and I could think about using her in a couple years, but I think I'd rather have another horse just for barrel racing. Something for me to think about.

It was fun and a great way to spend our afternoon!!

Glad you're getting to go on some fun outings. I'll bet it's neat watching a rodeo with those mountains in the background.

You know, in all these years I've never figured out what state you live in. I know the landscapes of California, Nevada, Oregon, Colorado and Arizona, but don't recognize that. I spent a little time in Washington. Could be there, maybe Idaho or Wyoming? Could be the Rockies. I just don't know, but it's definitely beautiful.

Holy moley! It looks so cold there...in late June...snow???!!!
Those mountains would make me feel too cold to out and watch the rodeo. lol!

And all that rain...what a dream! Here it hasn't rained for months, and we have sunshine and blue skies every day.
If we want to cool down we drive up into the mountains to ride, where it's still sunny, but is 15 degrees coolers (in the low 80's-70's).

Lisa~ I know, can you believe there is still snow in the mountains? By now it is usually melted. But it has been so wet and cooler then normal that the snow is sticking around a little bit longer!! That day was probably about 60-65 degrees. Which has been about what it's been for the month of June, with a few cooler days mixed in. Today is the first super nice day since May, about 70!!!

It sure is beautiful up there!

I am about an hour and a half from Tacoma.
You may be farther North than I thought.

Wow! You're not kidding - those mountains look beautiful. Even more so because of the snow peaks and at 8:30 AM, I'm already sweating.
