Introducing My New Little Pipsqueak!

After my precious angel kitty, Domino, disappeared almost 2 years ago, I kept telling myself that I did not want another cat. I still had 4 of them and that was plenty. But in the last couple months I had been having thoughts about how much I missed my angel and the cuddler that he was. My other cats aren't cuddlers. Dakota will sit on my lap for a few minutes, then he is done. I was craving the affection and attention that I so missed from my angel kitty.

The Sunday before my last horse show, I mentioned to my OH what I had been thinking. He said we could go to the local no-kill shelter, the one I used to volunteer at, and take a look around. I knew going there would result in a kitten coming home. I mean, how could that not happen? I knew exactly what I was looking for. I wanted another tuxedo, like my million dollar cat, Dakota. There is just something about the black and white's that get my heart pumping.

We arrived at the shelter and went to the kitten room. There were at least 2 dozen kittens running around. There was a family of 5 in the room and they were looking at each and every kitten. I see a tuxedo, and it was curled up sleeping. My OH said to me "I know you really want to go in there". So I climbed the baby gate and went in. There were actually 2 black and white kittens, but one was a "true" tuxedo. I picked it up and it just slept in my arms. I looked at it's I.D. # and found out that it was a girl. She was 10 weeks old. She woke up and just looked at me with those sweet eyes. She never struggled to get down. I handed her off to my OH so I could take a look at the other black and white. That one was cute too, but the first little girl won my heart over. I told my OH to NOT let her go, while I went to fill out the adoption paperwork. I was afraid that if she got put back on the floor, that one of the kids would pick her up and want her.

She slept in my OH's arms for over half an hour while I did the paperwork. She never struggled. I was in love.

And now I would like to introduce my new little angel~ Madison!

When we got home and let her out of the carrier, she jumped out and acted like she owned the place. She has no fear! She reminds me exactly of Dakota when he was a kitten. At the shelter, we never saw her awake and playing. She was always asleep or just laying in our arms. We had no clue what her personality was like. Her personality came out right away. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!

She is brave, sweet, loving and just wants to be with her humans. She does not care about the bigger cats. She will not back down from them either. She never went and hid under the bed for hours or tried to get away from everything. She stayed right with us and played and played and played.

She is a total lap cat!! She will lay in my lap for hours, if I let her. And she loves kisses.

Dakota is the only cat that is unsure of her. Dakota and Madison still hiss at each other, but they are getting better. The other cats don't care about her at all. Madison will jump right on top of Simba's back and try to take her down. Simba handles it quite well! We even introduced her to Bailey. They get along really well. Madison will run underneath Bailey's legs and Bailey does not care about her at all! I will not be introducing Sadie to Madison for quite a while. I don't trust Sadie enough to be around a kitten, even though Sadie gets along with our other cats.

I didn't think my OH would become so attached to her. He gets very attached to our animals, but this one is MINE and he tries to claim her as HIS. Not gonna happen!

She does what all kittens do, she loves to climb in the laundry basket as I do laundry, she tries to steal my dinner off my plate, she jumps up on the kitchen counter (and yes she gets in trouble for it), she climbs up our pant legs all the way up to our shoulders, she is lightening quick and she tries to kill us by running in between our legs. The joys of a kitten! But how can you resist this cute face?

She has made us go out and buy tons of new cat toys (we had disposed of all cat toys years ago, I guess when your cats range in age from 8-16 yrs, they quit playing with them). Her favorite toy of all is HER TAIL!! She will chase it for hours!! She has amazing athletic ability, doing somersaults, back flips and rolls!

She is so spoiled rotten that she even got a new cat bed for the couch!

I am in love with my new little pipsqueak! She is one of a kind and I couldn't be happier with my decision! Oh and yes, she takes naps with me and has to sleep right next to me at night!! I have a cuddler again!!! Yeah!!!!

Aww how sweet! I just love tuxedo kitties too they are one of my favorites. Try crumpling up a receipt and tossing it. If I know my cat personalities I bet she would be one to play fetch.

I am surprised that it's been two years since Domino passed away. It seems like just a few months ago. Where has the time gone?

Madison is a darling girl! You know I also have a soft spot for the tuxedo critters. You make me tempted to adopt a kitty for me, but my Dobbie Girl is so attached to me and won't even let my kids' 3 cats up on the bed to visit, so it probably wouldn't work out.
*pout*

I'm so happy for you. I know that Madison will bring you much joy, entertainment, and love.

Madison is a sweetie and chose her family well. It is so fun to watch their personalities develop when they are comfortable in their environment. Oh, and you can never take too many cute kitty photos!

Oh my, oh my, someone's going to get very spoiled!! I had a cat just like Madison a long time ago--coloring that is. He raised my kids with me, so I'm partial to black and white. Best cat I EVER had!
