The Last Hurrah.....

Okay, so I am almost done with the back to back to back horse shows! Only one more to go until August, which is Canadian Nationals and I don't go to that show, then U.S. Nationals in October!

The first of the back to back to back horse shows was extremely busy. We did very well and it was a good show. The last horse show we went to was in a very sunny location so I got some much needed Vitamin D. The temps were in the 75-95 degree range and I finally got some color to my skin!! It was way more relaxed and laid back this year in that there weren't too many classes all at once, except for one day. So we had a lot of down time where we either tried to get out of the heat or we were able to sit in the sun. And we weren't running around like crazy. It was so nice to be able to actually enjoy the show for once. That location is actually one of my favorites, besides Scottsdale!

Now on to the last hurrah!
One more show until Nationals and then I can breathe! We have been really busy getting all the horses bathed, clipped and hooves sanded (again!) Our show schedule looks pretty hectic so I am not seeing much down time at this show. The weather looks like it will be pretty good for the most part. Anywhere from 65-75 degrees with some rain showers mixed in for good measure. I mean summer has finally made an appearance around these parts, sorta, so gotta throw the rain in, right?

In other news:

I haven't been able to do much with my own horses. I have lunged Chance a couple times and she has been really good. Does that surprise you? Nope, me neither. Once this last show is done, I will have time to get going on more training with Chance, like putting a bridle and surcingle on her. I am really looking forward to that and I feel like I have such limited time with her. I know our nasty weather is right around the corner, so I am really wanting to get further training done before that happens. Unfortunately we did not get good spring weather, nor any good weather here for that matter. Just when the pastures dry out, it rains again and well, we are back to mud. The one pasture that has been empty still has a lake in the back, although a shallow lake now. We still have an extremely full pond and a running creek, which never happens this time of year. I mean people are still skiing in the mountains! When does that ever happen in July? That tells you how much rain/snow has fallen around here.

Brandy is still lame and my farrier will be here in 2 weeks. I am hoping he can help me with what is going on. If not, then I will have the vet out. That area of her hoof is still tender and I have done what I can do with the circumstances that we have here.

Fritzy's lump on her neck has gotten way better, although there is still a lump. But she is doing great otherwise.

Sadie and Bailey are as crazy as ever. They love farm life and I could never imagine my life without them in it. They make me smile, laugh and cry every day. Nothing like coming home stressed out, and a crazy Aussie making my day! Gotta love them Aussie's!

I can't wait to get back to visiting and posting when I get done with this crazy stretch of horse shows! I miss you all and have a great week!

my vet has an aussie named shakespeare and every single time he's here the dog runs right to our woodpiles, searches for that perfect piece of wood, drags it out, and carries it around. he usually jumps in the vet's jeep with the wood and then the vet has to get it away from him.

aussies have long tails here so it takes me a moment to recognize them.

your dog is so dirty i thought you were gonna complain about it but you sure didn't - just the opposite.

Can't wait til you have time with Chance. She's a smart girl. Sorry you're still dealing with lameness issues. I have a couple I'm dealing with now, too. :/ Stinks.

It's too bad that Brandy is still lame. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about Chance.

So great to hear from you. I sure wish we could trade weather at least for a couple months. We are just beginning to see some monsoon behavior here, but the spattering of afternoon rain is not enough. It would be great to see some green grass this year. I know Apache would like that. :)

So glad to hear that your one show was stress free and fun. I hope the next one isn't too bad and you can come back home, work with Chance....and see dry, clean Aussies. hehe!

Take care,
~Lisa

That sucks about the rain. We sure could use some here. Haven't had rain in months. It's really weird how it's still freezing cold in the north and blazing hot in the south. What the heck is up with the weather??

Try to have fun at the show and take care. I can't wait to start seeing some Chance posts soon. :) I'll keep my fingers crossed the farrier can help Brandy.
