A couple weeks ago, I bought Fritzy a Jolly Ball. She loves her treat balls and I thought she'd enjoy one of these. She hasn't played with it yet. She might not. Oh well. I tried! I gotta be a good horse mom.

I do not know how Fritzy got a sticker stuck in her tail. There aren't any stickers in the pasture, well, at least I didn't think there were. So I had to get it untangled from her tail. I wish I had brought my gloves. I think I came out of this one without any injuries! Yeah!

Fritzy stood perfectly still while I tried to get it out, thank you impatient horse! It didn't want to come out. I finally was able to get the darn thing out, without too many tail hair casualties.

My little shadow, Sadie, followed me to the pond. She was a little confused. She was looking for the water and it is down to a mud puddle. In the middle of winter and for most of the year, it usually has around 4 feet of water. Now it is gone. This is what happens when we don't get rain for so long.

Yep, she is a little confused. "Where's all the water, mom? How am I supposed to get all dirty and stinky?"

"Hey mom! I think I found the water!! Can I go play in it? Please?"

It was time for another fruit tree check. I had a feeling it had to be close that some of the fruit was ripe!

The pears have maybe a week or so? This is the first year we have had pears, so I don't know how long it usually takes.

The peaches are looking good and big. There are some plums that should be ready real soon!!

I have no idea what kind of flower this is. I just know that it has been blooming for a long time and it is really pretty.

I was able to pull one tomato off my tomato plant. I am eating it tomorrow!

In a few days I will be gone again. This time I will be gone for a week. It is time for our annual Pony Cousins Stampede, where we get to ride, play, eat and drink!
I might lose my Rodeo Queen status, or maybe I will win again? Hopefully Brandy will be on her best behavior!

Soon, the horses will be in their corrals........

Lots of ribbons and trophies to win...........

And many trail rides, smiles, fun, laughter and good times to be had.........
This is what family is all about!! Let the good times roll!!!
See you all next week!

I hate when summer comes and the water holes dry up...grrr!!! Great property. Enjoy the stampede :-)
Have fun and take lots of pix. Say hi to Cuz K for me and be safe.
I think that flower is a type of Hydrangea. Your fruit is gorgeous. We had peaches in our backyard but a groundhog climbed the tree and ate them! I watched him do it - no camera! We have apple trees where Pie and Sovey live so that is good.
Have fun at the Pony Cousins Stampede. That is very cool that you all do that!
That flower does look like a type of hydrangea. But that is just a guess. I have one in my front yard. Your fruit trees are looking great! I have missed so much and now you are leaving!! The pony cousion stampede looks like so much fun!!! You guys are so lucky to have so many horse loving family members!!!
Lovely garden, Paint Girl! Have fun at the Stampede, and may the best cousin win!!
Good luck Paint Girl at the Stampede. I know what you mean, wish it would rain where I am also.
I am so jealous ! fruit trees! .Have a wonderful trip!
Definitely a hydrangea! I love them...one of my fav. flowers. Hope you all have tons of fun!!! :)
Looks like you really need some rain, that poor pond is all dried up! Sadie needs to go for a swim!
The stampede sounds like loads of fun, hope you come home with lots of prizes!
Have a great time at the Stampede! I can't wait to see all the pics. Sounds like so much fun. :)
I didn't realize the pond got that low! Yikes! Where do all the frogs go?? That is quite the sticker. Your animals are sticker magnets,I swear! Well it looks like rain is on the way, you must have been doing your raindance! :) Will you post a video of that? I hope you finished Twilight because I'm bringing the DVD for us to watch when I come up!
We're really dry here too. Kimfer and I moved our horses to the back pasture and checked the dugout, its a good 4-8 feet lower than normal. (of course her dad's horse, which don't get used, got to stay in a pasture on the yard!)
Then Pie and I were doing errands and noticed the river is a LOT lower than usual. sigh Much as I hate when rain ruins my plans I'd love a good soaker!
"Laissez les bon temps roulez!" I hope you gals have a GREAT time and everybody takes pictures and shares their perspective with us at home. Safe journey!
I think it would be nice to get a day of rian before we leave...so maybe tonight would be good cause I leave tomorrow!!! Happy Trails to all!
That fruit looks good. We have apple and plum trees, but the fruit has never grown to an edible state. It just falls off the trees when only half-grown, and the bunnies eat it.
You know I bet that stick came out of the hay...I see that quite a bit.. I love that flower!! That is so cool, I wish you knew what it was!! OH your vacation sounds like such a blast!!! I cannot wait to hear about everything!! What great family you have!!
I love the photo tours of your farm!! I hope that you have LOTS of fun on your trip - I'll miss your posts but can't wait to read all about it when you get home!!
Your property looks like it's really beautiful. I didn't realize you had that many fruit trees. All we have is one lil' old Topsy Turvy tomato plant! We are getting tomatoes off it though.
You must be getting excited for the Pony Cousins Stampeded. It sounds like so much fun. Can't wait to see the photos and here the stories!
We bought our horses one of those balls and they were TERRIFIED of it....that was money well spent.
We have had a lot of flies lately too -- the enormous horse flies are back, which I just hate. If I can catch them, I feed them to the chickens.
Have a GREAT time on the Stampede....can't wait to hear about it.
Have a great time, you crazy cousins! ;)
peach pie fixin's for when you return... have fun, be safe kick some you know what :)
happy trails
gp
ps do you like the fly masks?
paint girl, have fun and be careful! love those pears! planted two trees this year. sadie is such a fluff ball. i want to give her a big hug! keep a good watch on your mom as i know you and pony girl will...you all are a great family. take care and looking forward in hearing all about your trip!
Oh yummy...just look at all of your fruit trees!!! I just ate my first tomato of the season today, and it was good.
That plant looks like a hydrangea, but I am not sure. Maybe a wayward seed took root out in the woods??
Have a great trip, okay????
Oooh! I hope I'm not too late and you get this before you leave for your fun Pony Cousin week. I've been MIA around my fave blogs and trying to catch up as best as I can. My hubby has been out of town for most of the last 3 weeks working on his CDL license for his new trucking job in Utah. It's been challenging for me to keep up with everything around here and my computer time has seriously suffered the most. lol!
Anyway, wow! That pond sure has dried up. I remember how full it was from other photos you've posted. What a difference. So, it's no spring fed, right? Once it rains a few good times, it will fill right up? Poor, clean Sadie. hehe!
I love that pretty photo with the blue flowers and Sadie in the background.
Looks like you're gonna have some good fruit harvest soon. I wish we had some pear trees here. Yummo! I love pears. We've sure been lucky with our peaches this year. We only have the one tree and it has just went gangbusters! I just sold another 30 lbs of peaches the other night! And I've got a lot more peaches still left for us.
Sure wish we lived closer to one another. I'd invite you over to help yourself to some peaches. And then I'd make you a peach margarita! :)
Sorry about the flies. We've got some here, too. But the breezes seem to keep them at bay. But they are hanging out with the chickens because I keep dumping peach pits in there for them to pick at. Maybe that's what is keeping 'em away from the horses after all. lol!
I'd wish you a great time next week, but I know you don't need it. You're gonna have a blast!
I can't wait to read all about it when you get back home again,
~Lisa
Ack, I lost my comment...
Your fruit looks awesome, it really does. And I hope Sadie didn't roll around in all that mud, lol.
The flies have been really bad here, esp the horseflies the last few days... we've been keeping UltraShield on the horses, but that spray is expensive. It does help though.
You are probably at the Pony Cousins Stampede right now, having a ball! :)
Wow, everything looks great (well, except for the pond)! I hope you have been having a great week. That flower looks like a Hydrangea, beautiful! And as for the Jolly Ball, we got one but the horses didn't pay a lick of attention to it. Duke however, loved that thing! And he couldn't pop it lol! Love the pics of Sadie, she is just so pretty =)
