Doggy Spa Day

Sadie and Bailey survived their doggy spa day! This was the second time Sadie has been to the groomer and Bailey's first time. When we went to drop them off and the guy went to take Sadie through the gate, she went willingly. Last time my OH had to take her in the back and help get her in the kennel because she wouldn't go with the guy. Once she went through the gate Sadie jumped up on the gate and draped her paws over with a very sad look in her eye. She sat like that until we finished giving the groomer Bailey's info and how we wanted Bailey trimmed. It almost broke my heart seeing her so sad.

Sadie gets a shorter cut, but it's not too short. She gets all the excessive long hair taken off her neck, chest, stomach, legs and butt. This way all the sticks and mud from home don't cling to her. When it's longer, everything collects and tangles in her hair. Now all that stuff doesn't have anything to stick too.

I know she is laying down in these pictures, but she is not the most cooperative dog for taking pictures. At least she wasn't moving all over the place. Here is her shorter butt hair. She has such a cute butt when she is trimmed like this. But you can't really tell she has a tail (well, a docked tail anyways!)

Her stomach hair would mat pretty bad. And she isn't the easiest dog to brush, she growls when she gets brushed (she doesn't care to have her back touched, she has always been this way. As I have said before, she is kind of a strange dog, but I love her, faults and all) and then when all the sticks and leaves get stuck on her stomach would make it even more difficult to get a brush through her hair. Now that it is trimmed up, no more mats and sticks! And way easier to brush!

Here is a front view. Her chest and neck have been cleaned up. It is still pretty long, but I swear it used to be about 12" before the cut. And she has such a thick undercoat. This Aussie has a crazy hair coat! Not anymore, she will be going to the groomer about every 8 weeks to keep it under control. And I love when their paws are trimmed up so neatly!! No long hair between the toes and they cut her long leg hair short so she no longer gets hitchhiker's up and down her legs!! I am sure it has to feel so much better without all that extra crap that always used to get tangled into her hair!!

Bailey's first trip to the groomer consisted of a very minor trim. He has a ridiculous amount of butt hair and a really thin coat everywhere else. So they thinned and trimmed the butt hair. They also cleaned up his legs and toes. We were told that Bailey was a very good boy for his first appointment and I am sure he fell in love with every single person that works there! He is silly that way.

Both dogs got pretty new bandana's from the groomers. I do believe they were extremely excited to see us when we went to go pick them up. When we walked in and they let them out of the kennels, Sadie came full speed to the gate, while Bailey ran around sniffing everything else. Well, I don't think Bailey really cared to see us, he was more interested in other doggy smells. Sadie wouldn't take her eye's off of us. She was one happy dog to have her owner's back!! And I am sure she thought she was being tortured and wondering what she did wrong to deserve treatment like that.

I just love how Sadie gets cut. They don't take too much off, so she still looks like an Australian Shepherd, but they do get rid of the problem areas. And she is so soft and cuddly now! Too bad she is not a cuddly dog, because right about now I could use a snuggle on this cold, windy, rainy and dreary Monday!! Blah!

Our golden cross Misty has a very similar coat to Sadie! And we get her trimmed pretty much the same way, small world lol
Oh, and when she has that long hair on her feet & between her toes we call it her Grinch feet.

I bet Sadie adores being the centre of attention, even if she is super happy to see her mom & dad again :)

Aww Sadie does look like she needs to be cuddled with all that short fuzzy hair. Funny how they have such different hair coats

they look great! I hate taking my sisters dog to the groomers, actually nearly cried last time form the sad looks of betrayal he was giving me

Hahaha-She looks like a blue marshmallow! All puffy and fluffy with her new do. She looks great. Bet it has to feel better too.

Bailey looks very dignified.

Their coats look fantastic!! Especially Sadie. They did a really good job on her. :) I really like that cut. It's not short enough to damage her coat or skin, but it makes keeping her clean and tangle free so much easier. Just brilliant!!
