I brushed them really good and de-tangled manes and tails. I also gave them a clip job. They were growing mo-hawks, so I figured it was time. Fritzy annoys me as I groom Brandy. She is so in your pocket and thinks all the attention should be on her. She kept bothering me and Brandy over the fence. While I was clipping Brandy's whiskers, I lifted my head up and smacked my skull into Fritzy's nose. It didn't hurt too bad, this time. At least she doesn't bite, because if she did, she could have easily taken a bite of my hair or head.

Fritzy came over to show Brandy how to untie herself. Here she is showing Brandy how to do it. "Okay Brandy, to set yourself free, all you need to do is try to get a good hold of this loop."

"If you can just get it loose enough........"

"You can pull on the end, and tada! You will be untied! It is as simple as that! Now it's your turn!"

Good thing I was there. Fritzy almost had Brandy untied. I was able to chase her off.

Fritzy was next. Amazingly, the horses weren't that dirty, so it made my job that much easier.

I let them both graze a bit when I finished grooming.

I love a freshly groomed horse, especially one with tangle free manes and tails. I love to run my hand through their manes. We are hoping to get a trail ride in soon. The weather has been spectacular, now that we aren't in the 80's anymore, it is perfect riding weather. I think the horses are itching to hit the trails too.

My boarder has an almost identical mark - I can't prove it but I think someone kicked her. She's got a bunch of bite marks all over her butt too. Your girls look great!! Enjoy the trails in this cooler weather, I love fall but am not looking forward to winter yet!!
Lol, glad you caught that untying on time! :-) Sahara would do just the same!
That Fritzy is quite the character!!! I love your pictures of her teaching Brandy how to get free! That is soooo funny because it looks like Brandy is listening intently! I love that!
Brandy is totally ignoring Fritz as if to say, "What the heck are you doing crazy spotted horse?"
Your mares look good, glad you spent some time with them, didn't want them to feel too neglected with the new baby on the way!
p.s. Those mares are looking as well fed as My Boy, btw! ;)
p.s. did you notice that Bailey and Fritz on on my sidebar with me now? :) Felt like changin' things up!
Glad you could get some girl time in! Always makes one feel better.
Girl time is always a good thing. Did they get manny/peddys too! They sure look prettified!
Oh yea...that's a bite mark. That was one of the reasons my mom had me take Blue down to the ranch for my brother. Everyone likes to pick on him, but one of the really naughty geldings got after him and left big bite marks like that down his side and along his hip.
Plain old fashioned Crest toothpaste is really good for getting hair to grow back quicker. Don't know why it works so well, but it does. Just dab it all over the bare spots and leave it on for several days at a time.
Nothing is better than a great day at the spa!!!
I hear ya on the perfect weather! Hoping when hubby gets home from work today to saddle up. ;) In the meantime, that would be a good idea for me to go out and do some grooming myself. I just finished cutting some grasses and such for my back porch fall arrangement. Pics to come later!
Hope Brandy's bite heals up quick... and our horses, at least Paint and Stormy, are pretty round from all this good pasture grass this year too... poor Stormy, I told Tom she looks ready to foal anyday, LOL. (She's not.)
your babies are beautiful, of course! when blue bites jessie, there is always a raised area that is swollen...did that happen? otherwise it could be a scrape or rub from the metal posts? that crest idea sounds interesting!
Fritzy is a naughty horse lol :-)
Oh I live a freshly groomed horse too! I like to do it before we go out on a trail ride so if we pass anyone, we will look positivley sparkling! But even today it was raining and I brought Lilly to the barn and made her all pretty. Only to go back in the rain again!
Looks like they will be clever enough to open that gate! Have they really ever done that before?
