Good Times!

I was supposed to work on Saturday, but my boss needed to switch shifts with me, so I got the day off! I am so glad I did. It was a gorgous day and I got to spend time with my animals, my sis and my OH. After my the boys shoeing appt., I went to go get Brandy. It was obviously nap time. Usually, when she is laying down, she gets up the minute she sees me. Not this time. She ignored me. You want me to get up? Please!

I saddled her up and we headed up to my arena. Looks like Fritzy found some hay way out back, my OH spreads the hay piles all over. It is good for them to walk and eat from different piles, like they are grazing in a big field of grass, which we are lacking.

I wasn't going to longe Brandy, than I changed my mind, boy, am I glad I did! She was full of bucks! She always starts out so calm. But once she gets going, she really gets going! I am not kidding!

She started with little bucks...........

Then, she went into the full on bronco bucks! Maybe she should have been bucking stock! I think this is the biggest buck she has ever done!

After longing, my OH delivered lunch to the arena. He brought us Subway sandwiches. Yummo! Isn't my OH the sweetest?!? We ate at the picnic table, that we have right next to the arena. Sure comes in handy! Another great idea from my OH!

The horses watched as we ate. I think they were a little jealous! My sis's boy even started pawing, um, boy, are you taking pawing lessons from Fritzy?

After Brandy's buckfest, she didn't move a muscle. She just silently watched us eat.

Once we were done eating, we went to ride. Brandy has some areas of the arena that she likes to come off the rail, so we worked on staying on the rail. We also did some turn on the forehands and turn on the haunches and sidepassing. She is getting better at these! I think the warm day and all the bucking wore Brandy out. She fell asleep during our photo shoot!

There was a nice breeze, sometimes it got too cold, it was one of those days when the breeze came through, you needed a sweatshirt, but once the breeze stopped it was too warm! The boy is having a bad hair day!

Bailey was keeping an eye on the goats. You never know what kind of trouble they can get into!

My OH decided to work in my horses pasture. In this section of pasture, there use to be alot of alder trees. Slowly the goats have killed them off. Over the winter, the heavy snow and the goats, have killed more. My OH wanted to take the bad ones out. Fritzy was curious, as always.

As I was walking Brandy back to the pasture, Fritzy decided to run full speed to the gate. Here she is after her run. She was looking a little frazzled! Don't worry, we aren't leaving you behind! Fritzy doesn't get too upset when Brandy leaves. She usually just whinnies, I was a little shocked that she came running down to us like that.

Now that Brandy was back in the pasture, Fritzy decided to give Brandy a little kiss. How come you can't always be this sweet, Fritz?

Once I got done horsin' around, it was time to get to the real work. It is supposed to rain again this week, so I decided to mow the lawn. I love to mow. I enjoy it. I am not sure why. I love the smell of fresh cut grass, even though my allergies kick in, but that won't stop me from mowing. I am still waiting to try out my new ipod I received for Christmas. I want to listen to music while I mow and scoop mounds of horse poo.

A couple hours later, it was time to bring the goats in, with help from the crazy Aussie's. Bailey is finally starting to figure out that he is a herding breed and should help bring them in!

Only a couple more to go! I get to work the gate, the OH gets to work the rear and the Aussie's work the middle. Well, one Aussie works the middle. Sadie still hasn't figured out she belongs to the herding family!

Wait, there is something wrong with this picture! Where did the crazy Aussie's go? Bailey? Sadie? Your job isn't done yet! There is still one more goat! Oh well, the OH has to earn his keep around here somehow! Why not be a goat herder?

Sadie is one worn out pup! Working 8 hours on a farm is alot of work, you know! Can I do it again? Please?!?

What a fun day indeed! I love the picnic bench by the arena idea. I think I'm definitely gonna have to copy that. How great to be able to have a quick snack break (especially if the OH is delivering!). ;) Great pics!

Wow! Those were some major bucks! I'd always lunge if I were you. Busy, busy, busy. But isn't it great to be outside? I'd so much rather work outside than in a crummy cubicle like I do all week. Sigh...

Looks like you had a great day. I used to love to mow the lawn when we lived in the country, it was peaceful even though you have the motor running. It wreaked havoc with my allergies during June though!

You guys sure do have a lot of fun! You can borrow my Aussies for a while, they are herding machines. Caper loves to try to herd the horses... Most of the time they just ignore him, but sometimes they play along and head in from the pasture for him.
