Horseshoes, Dogs, Frogs and Flowers?

We had our first horseshoe competition on Friday. Well, it really wasn't a competition, but it is when you have someone like my OH, who is very competitive and just has to win every game! Our friend K came up to throw shoes. I played 2 games, and well, I didn't do too well. I am usually very good at horseshoes and I can give any guy a run for their money, and their ego! But I just couldn't get my game on! Darn it! Although, it was my first time throwing shoes this year. On the right is my OH, and our friend K, is on the left.

You can't have a horseshoe game without an ice cold bucket of beer!

My OH is really good at shoes, he throws a lot of ringers. Here he is throwing out a nice shoe....

For a ringer! Which cancelled out K's ringer he just had. I love this game! I miss throwing those ringers, and beating the guys!

While the guys were playing, I chose to try to get an Australian Shepherd photo shoot going. Um, yeah, not going to work. You know how hard it is to get an Aussie to pose for the camera? I am sure those of you with Aussie's know how hard it can be! Ok, not to critique my dogs conformation, but it looks like he is a little down hill here, I will blame it on the ground. It's not level.

So instead, I decided to try for a flower photo shoot, flowers don't move a hundred miles an hour, so this should work, right? I am not good at taking pictures of flowers, and I don't have a camera that is good at taking pictures of them, so lets see how I do. Plus I am not a photographer, I know I have said that before. This here is my peony. I love this flower! I got a start off an ex employee over 8 yrs ago. Look how pretty it turned out, and it's my favorite color!

Guess what I noticed hanging out on my flower? Yep, a spider. I have a big fear of spiders, this would take a whole post to explain.

I then decided to go down to the pond and continue my frog search. I know I had a frog come to me last week, and we have a million of them right at the pond. But every time I try to capture one on camera, they aren't there. So I thought I'd try again. And look what I found!

They were all over as I was walking along the side of the pond, they were hopping like crazy, but straight into the pond. So I was trying to hurry and get pictures of them before they swam off.

Sadie, my little dirt monster, was following me around, as usual. She loves water and goes into the pond every chance she gets. Here she started in the creek, which is almost dried up, due to the unusually dry weather we have had this month.

It doesn't take her long to end up in the actual pond, which is now a slimy, green, mush type liquid.

Bailey and Sadie play for awhile, than Sadie decides playing with a stick is better company.

Yep, lovin' that stick!

After pond diving and stick playing, she finds the one and only patch of dirt in our yard to dig, and roll in.

When she does this, I tell my OH, "She's not my dog!"

I think she is starting to get sleepy.............. Thank goodness!

Does anybody want to take her home and cuddle with her? Please? My only requirement is that she is returned to me smelling pretty!

Who woke up the dog? She was sleeping, now she is trying to get a good view of the ensuing horseshoe game!

She is still trying to grow that goatee...... I wonder who is going to have to give this dog a bath, since no one offered to take her home, cuddle, than bathe her?!? I wonder why that is? Come on guys, you have one more chance! Offers anyone, offers? ANYONE?!?

The horses have been fed, the dogs have been put to bed, and the guys finish up their game of horseshoes, my OH being the champion, again! The sun is setting, and it is time to head on over to the neighbors for a friendly chat, a couple of drinks and a delightful bonfire!

What a lovely evening at the Painted Creek! Besides that dirty, rotten scoundrel!
Anyone? Anyone want to take her home to cuddle? Pleeeaaassseee!?! This is your last chance! Why won't anyone take my dog home to cuddle?

Hahaha love that post. I can smell that dog here in PA. We once had a white Akita ( Yoko Ono) and she used to go in our pond then the kids would let her in and she would run up and dive bomb onto our bed!

I second that on trying to get good photo's of an Aussie!! Not likely to happen LOL!! I LOVE your peony!! Perfect color, I wish mine were that dark :( They are that light pink almost white...I didn't plant them, they were already here. I would have planted a darker or brighter color! But nothing beats the smell of fresh peonies!!

I got 2 stinkin', horse poo eatin', spoiled rotten dogs of my own. I don't think I could handle another one, and especially not one with that much hair. Besides, Mr. Fry and I wouldn't know how to act if we actually had a smart dog. Ours give dumb dogs a bad name.

For a non-photographer, you have some great photos! Love the frogs you captured and the muddy dog. Aren't those "I don't care what anyone thinks, I'm enjoying myself" dog antics why we love them so much? Although, I do somewhat lose my affection when they roll in dead fish or oil that's leaked from the neighbors tractor. Ugh!

My dad is dragging bulls from a bullride blowout this weekend and hopefully I can go and help mum take some photo's of the horses and bulls and hotdogs..mainly hotdogs!

I love horseshoes too!!! Only I am so bad at it! So then I try to play croquet--not exactly a cowboy game!!!!! But I stink at that too! Luckily, you do not have to be good to have a good time, and a bucket of cold beer will always help to that end!
I will cuddle with your dirty Sadie any time!!!!

Awwww I would bring her home to cuddle! Maybe Duke would give her a good cleaning, he really does self clean himself! He has honestly not had a real bath in at least a year. Maybe he just hasn't gotten really good and dirty...though he does love to go in the creek...One day I will post about it lol. Oh AND he doesn't stink, not kidding! =) Love the pics, the peony is beautiful!

Sadie looked like she was playing in Shrek's Swamp! lol!
Uh...not thanks on the bathing and cuddling offer...sure do appreciate that, though. I'll defer it to you. She has enough fur to give you a soaking when she shakes dry! lol!

Great peony shot. They are so fluffy and pretty...and PINK! :)

I like that photo with the sun peeking through. So pretty!
And the beer in the La Chiquita buket..lol!

Isn't it AMAZING how dirty those Aussies can get? Chey comes in in the morning, soaking wet (even though it hasn't rained in weeks!) with the sticky ball viney things wrapped around her like a freakin cacoon and not a speck of white left on her. After 45 minutes outside. Crazy dog! Last night she was having a blast playing in the sh** pile. And the sticks! Oh, the sticks! Cracks me up how entertainingi a stick can be! lol

Oh well, atleast they're having fun, right?

Beautiful peony! Great shots!

I like the pictures of the frog! Good catch, they dive under water fast! :) Fun post, looks like a typical fun weekend at the Painted Creek.
p.s. I'm so glad "my" dog stays clean! ;)

Hawky will jump in anything deeper than in inch! But thank goodness he is short haired, it is hard enough to keep him clean as it is! When my Mom's mini aussie comes for a visit I am always suprised how dirty he manages to get.

Great pics too btw!
