Random Happenings

I have been a very busy bee this week. No relaxing for me, no way, no how. Here are some random happenings from the week.

Tuesday~ I had a ton of phone calls and emails I needed to get out in the morning, than my OH's mom showed up to weed the rose and patio flower beds. Once I was done with the stuff I needed to do in the house, I went out to help her. It took us around 3 hours. We couldn't finish all of the flower beds in back, it was getting way to hot.

Wednesday~ I went and hung out at a nationally known Arabian breeding/training barn. My trainer/very good friend, M, is the assistant trainer. I have been there numerous times to watch her train horses. I did the same, only this time, they were also getting ready to head to a horse show on Thursday, so I helped M load the trailer with everything they would need for the 4 day show. 13 horses are going. That is a lot of tack and supplies needed! I couldn't even imagine packing for one of their bigger shows, where they take around 20 horses. I had a great time, and I will be going to the show on Saturday to hang out and watch.

Thursday~ (today, I think? I don't even know what day it is or what the date is!) I washed our truck, oh my, almost took me as long to wash the truck, as it did to wash my horse trailer! Green goo again! Since the truck is no longer an every day driver, it just sits back behind our house, not far from the horse trailer. We now only use it to tow the trailer, or go get hay. My OH had to buy a commuter car, he was putting way too many miles on the truck, and it was too expensive to fill up with gas. He drives 100 miles a day round trip, so yep, he needed a commuter car! He bought this car a year ago, and has saved money, even with a car payment! Last summer, the truck was costing him over $700 a month in gas.

The first time I washed my OH's truck, 6 yrs ago, I said I would never wash it again. After today, I told him, I am never washing it again. His truck is also lifted. No, I did not need the 6 foot ladder, but I did have to climb into the bed to wash the roof. The truck took 2 hours to wash, and yes, I had to use that toothbrush again! Since I already had the car washing supplies out, I decided to wash my car. Plus, with the temps at 90+, being around water sounded like a great idea! Sadie was my shadow, she follows me everywhere! This has a lot to do with her socially anxious issues. She stays very close. Um, my dog is a little strange, her undercoat is shedding, so it comes out in clumps and when it comes out, she likes to pick it up. Maybe she wants a goatee, to look like our goat Edgar, who has a real goatee?

What do you think?

While washing my car, the neighbors dogs came over. Elvis came into my garage, Sadie was not happy about that, she is very protective, so I chased Elvis out, and guess what I see? Dax taking a poo on my gravel drive behind my house! Ya gotta be kiddin' me! I had to go get the shovel to clean that up, before someone steps in it. What dog poo's on gravel? I'm surprised he didn't come poo in my garage! I chased the dogs off, I was hot, sweaty, getting a headache from the heat, and getting very cranky at this point. This is Elvis, he is not the one who poo'ed in my driveway, but he did cause Sadie to get all worked up, by coming into our garage!

Than, as I was on my way to the mailbox, Bailey went over to some tall grass and when he came out, he looked like he might have gotten stung by a bee. He kept pawing at his mouth, opening it really wide, and than he was foaming at the mouth! What the heck? What is wrong with my dog!! I tried prying his mouth open and didn't see anything, so I watched him walk away. He started doing it again, he was freaking out, more foam was coming out of his mouth, Sadie was getting upset, or getting ready to attack him, I could tell by her posture and how she was reacting to him freaking out, but Bailey was my first priority. I ran back over to him, pried his mouth open again and I see, stuck up on the roof of his mouth, a stick lodged sideways. I was able to get a hold of it and yank it out. Immediate relief. Bailey, you wear sticks, not eat them! I can't afford an emergency vet bill anymore!

After that fiasco, I decided to organize my tack room, that is housed in my garage. I bought 2 bins that have different size drawers and are on wheels. I figured I could use one per horse. I put SMB's, bell boots and polo wraps in the bigger drawers. My spurs, gloves, vet wrap, bute, banamine, etc in the smaller drawers. I have shelves up above on the wall, that I keep my flyspray, hoof stuff, shampoo, conditioner, detangler, helmet, and a bunch of other assorted things. I feel so much better about it now, I love organization and feel I can keep track of things a lot better!

After hooking the horse trailer to the truck, spraying the dogs down with the hose, feeding the horses, I mowed half the lawn. It was way too hot to finish and it was 6:00 p.m.! Really, I am NOT complaining, I love the heat, and I know I was begging for it back in April.

Oh, and once my OH got home, we dewormed Fritzy. She is a pain in our butts to deworm. It takes both of us to do it. So sometimes she gets dewormed a little later than Brandy.

It was a very long day, but I accomplished so much. It feels really good!

If only I could live a day, in the life of a cat!

OMGosh!!! You got a heck of a lot done today girl!! You rock!! And I agree with your mom you may have to go back to work to rest up LOL!!! Oh I love the car, love me a Mazda!!! Back in 2005 I was going to buy the Mazda 6 but then decided on the Mazda 3 hatchback, fun little sports car till the winter rolled around and I traded for a Jeep LOL!! I am now strictly a truck girl, these roads are to dangerous out here to be in a car...

Who can resist those beautiful RR eyes? Elvis is a charmer!!
So happy you got so much done! I read you on the heat though - it's lovely, but it certainly decimates one's capacity. Here, winter is the "effective" time!

Wow, Paint Girl, you are a woman of great industry. see how busy one gets without a job?? I wonder if this day was an indication of what your summer will be like. Busy, filled with animals and heat. That last picture of your fuzzy cat really made me laugh. Sometimes i forget how much fur a cat can really have!

Lots of things accomplishe, that always makes me feel really good. It's good to get to those things you have been putting off for whatever reason. I like things neat too but they never stay that way with my family. They just kinda put things wherever they fall **sigh**

lol the cat. My dog savanah did the stick in the mouth thing only with a pin! Stupid dog your not supposed to eat those! My mom must have dropped it sewing.

With the worming try this trick that worked every time on my mare Naigen. Get some applesauce and an empty clean syringe. Start syringing applesauce until they readily accept it (even if they just put their teeth around the syringe and let you squirt it in) When it comes time for actual worming use one squirt of applesauce, one wormer, one applesauce right after the wormer. They won't hate your efforts quite as much.

Do you wonder how you used to get everything done? It's also a pain in the butt to worm my mare. I keep putting it off thinking the worm fairy is going to do it for me!

Patches~ I got the rolling bins from my work. We had them in our audit room, and I thought they'd work great for horse storage! Try Target, Walmart, or like an office supply place? I don't know where my work got them.

Sounds like a lot of hot, sticky, dirty work. The best time to wash cars is when it's warm though. Hope you are enjoying your time off never the less!

Yes...it was hot!!! I went out to see my kids, and rode The king for 3 hours checking out a ggod numger of our trails. So far so good but we need to carry our briar clippers for the power line trail/ I wore a BLACK thermal long sleeve shirt cause it was a bit iffy weather wise. 95 degrees down here my way!!! However The King is such a "gem" to ride and what would have taken me 4hours on Jesse...took just under 3 on the king! And he was not walking fast...for him. We mosyed along...he was outstanding that day and such a PLEASURE to ride!!!
So nexttime you think about washing the truck...call me!

You get the credit for making me LOL today with the goatee pix. Cracked me up!

A real tack room would be so wonderful. I don't have a barn and the garage is off limits — that's Mr. Fry's domain. My saddles are in Mike's office, which was our son's bedroom. My supplies and lead ropes, headstalls, etc. are in my laundry room. I do like the idea of it all being in climate controlled storage since the heat and cold will affect the leather, but it sure would be nice having it all in one easy-to-access area. As it is, I have to make many trips to do anything with my horses.
